Welcome to Costco. I Love you.

This weekend, I visited Costco to purchase meat for making carnitas. Upon freeing a cart before entering the store, a guy walked up and took the cart from my hands. I am pretty sure that he assumed that I was Costco staff, since Costco is a foreign company and I am not Japanese. If Japanese culture was more jovial, I would have greeted him with “Welcome to Costco. I love you.

This is not the first time I have been mistaken for staff at Costco, actually. Many years ago, a lady came up to me in the store and asked where she could find a certain product. I was able to direct her to the appropriate aisle.
