Support Three Major Versions (Part 2)

I had a good laugh and learned some slang today. Emily Pillmore, the first CTO of the Haskell Foundation, posted RFC: Upcoming Changes to the base64 library about upcoming major releases of the base64, base32, and base16 libraries. She is only going to support three major versions of GHC, and Haskell support is one of the topics that I have been tracking lately.

Emily wrote:

Keep in mind that this means I’m bumping all of these libraries to a minimum of 8.10.x to make my life easier, and if you’re on an older GHC version, sorry, but git gud.

I was not familiar with the slang “git gud.” The phrase is a derogatory way to tell somebody that they need to improve their skills, but it is often used in a joking way among friends.

This gets an entry in my blog because I will likely joke about it in the future.
