Strange Earthquake

While eating dinner this evening, my family and I felt an earthquake that was not very strong at our location. My wife checked an app and saw that the epicenter was in Ise Bay, near Nagoya. It is not uncommon to feel distant earthquakes, but it was really interesting to see that the reports were coming in from the Tokyo area and along the coast north of Tokyo, not from areas near the quake! The JMA map shows this very clearly. The epicenter was 340km below the surface, and I guess the energy was directed toward Tokyo… Is this common? It is the first time I remember such an earthquake.
