Status Report (Part 2)

This is an update on my previous Status Report, covering the same topics.

Summer Pandemic Vacation

Due to high COVID-19 infection rates in the Tokyo area, my daughter’s kindergarten is delaying the return to school. Summer vacation is extended!

Vaccination

My second chance to make a reservation for vaccination was this morning. I tried to log in at the designated time, but I got a page stating that the site was too busy and that I should wait. I was able to log in after about seven minutes of refreshing. After many attempts to make a reservation only to have the slots fill up while clicking, I was able to make a reservation for early next month. Progress!

FeedPipe

I am continuing to make progress on the implementation of FeedPipe. One of the challenges of designing software is the balance between features and simplicity. I am currently experimenting with a design that allows users to create RSS feeds for other pages as well as the main feeds. For example, the current Haskell Books article series has a meta page that provides information about the index. FeedPipe supports creation of such pages as well, and my experiment allows users to optionally create an RSS feed for such a page. Such a feed could be used to communicate with users who are interested in helping out with the project, without adding noise to the main feeds.
