Tortilla Chips (Part 4)

Costco is still out of stock of Organic Tortilla Chips. There was a discussion on /r/japan about it this week, and one person recommended getting La Costeña Totopos from Gyomu Super as a substitute. My wife has been recommending the same after she found it online, but I had not found time to bike to the nearest Gyomu Super to look for some. I made some time to do so this week, however, and they had unsalted chips in stock!

I was not expecting much, because I tried some La Costeña Salsa before and was not impressed. (It was almost as bad as Old El Paso salsa!) The chips are not bad, however! Since they are unsalted, I think I may even prefer them over the (way too salty) Organic Tortilla Chips that Costco no longer carries!

A bag weighing 454g is sold for 429 yen (398 yen plus tax), which is about 95 yen per 100g. That is about 150% the price of the Costco chips, though still less than half the price of the superior Kaldi chips.
